About

A little practice,
every week.

No lessons to finish. No streak to keep. Just a short conversation to make a new language a little more familiar.

Listen and read along, one sentence at a time. Swipe up for the next sentence and sideways for more or less English, or use the arrow keys. Replay goes back to the start of the sentence.

A new conversation arrives every week in each language, aiming for A2-level practice, with two voices and two to three minutes of everyday language. Scripts and voices are AI-generated; pronunciation and wording may occasionally be imperfect.

Cantonese →

Listen shows only the Chinese, Words adds each word’s meaning, and Full gives the meaning phrase by phrase.

The Jyutping above each character comes from the font, which picks each reading from the words around it, so now and then it may not match what you hear.

Jyutping font derived from VF Cantonese Heritage 2.8 by Jon Chui / A3I Limited, renamed Dialogue Canto for web distribution. SIL Open Font License.

Japanese →

Listen shows only the Japanese, Words adds furigana above the kanji and each word’s meaning, and Full gives romaji and the meaning phrase by phrase.

Furigana and romaji are generated with each script, using the words in context. Romaji uses modified Hepburn, with macrons for long vowels. Readings may occasionally differ from what you hear; they are a guide, not a pronunciation reference.

Just listen. A little goes a long way.
